Author Morals Statements
As an author, there are four things I value that influences my craft:
- Sound truth
- Affirmation and Closure
- Christian Faith
My stories centre around truths that I have discovered throughout my own life and believe that, through strong idea and concept-building, relatable characters and authentic voice, that same truth can apply to readers. First and foremostly, I write with and for the intention of capturing that truth and consider the different ways it can leave a lasting impact.
Making those truths known is a form of affirmation and closure for myself. Through my craft, I am able to bring the lessons learnt from those truths full circle and echo them back to myself. This allows the craft of writing to bring about a sense of joy rather than the feeling of work, as I'm grounding myself and what I believe.
While my writing up to date are not Christian books, they do have undertones of Christian themes that align with my faith. This can be a pillar that supports the bridges of ideas, concepts and characters. My Christian faith also influences me as a person - I feel provided for in my circumstances and personal life as well as in my author career, so if I go for periods of time without writing or creating and uploading content, there is a good chance it means I am secure about my circumstances and balancing my time with other commitments and values, such as my family and living life away from the desk.
One thing I wish to make clear is that I don't write for the sole hope of monetization, fame or success, but to to tell truths, give readers characters they can relate to, and tell stories because it's my creative form of expression and brings me closure about different thoughts I have that can influence the stories. Writing is my love language.
